if Carl Jung had ever discovered the joy of scrapbooking

The first in a series of scrapbooking ideas.

Okay, one of my favorite artists/teachers is Carl Jung. You may know that he hung out with Freud for about five years and then they parted ways. After the “break” up Jung took some time to develop many of the theories he is now famous for, archtypes, the collective unconscious, and individuation. During this time, he made many notes and he later put them together, along with gorgeous illustrations in his Lebre Novus also known as the Red Book.

This is one of what will be a series of my silly slant. What if Carl Jung had discovered the joys of scrapbooking when he was putting together his opus? It’s an interesting juxtaposition, don’t you think?

What do you think? Do you have any favorite Carl Jung quotes that you’d like to see illustrated in this manner? Just let me know. Thanks for stopping by. Don’t let the shadow drag you around by your tail.  Cheers, rachel

Jung, murder mysteries

Greetings, I hope all is well in your world, life is nice and toasty in here. My first thought when beginning this blog was one of: damn, how . So, how in the world can I write a blot without sounding like a pretentious jerk? By reminding myself that it’s also about you too. We are all in this together. The world is raging, going through massive upheavals, enough to scare you to death. I propose to fill this blog with thoughts and opinions about moving through the darkness toward the light. I can’t take on ALL of the darkness, I choose to focus on the areas that intrigue me: murder mysteries,  psychological thrillers and suspense.

But when we talk about the dark, we have to include the light, this includes  observations about myself as just another sojourner on this road back to the dusty world. And I am reminded every day that we, you and I dear reader, are more than the sum of our parts. We are divine inspiration, and it brings me a bit of peace during the day to think back to the real source of “inspiration” meaning spirit.
Now, don’t worry. I’m not going to get all new-agey on your ass. I am still the hellafunkadella – my finely tuned bullshit-detector alter ego that will beat me senseless if I get too airy-fairy and “it’s all about the light.” Jung reminds us that: “One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious. The latter procedure, however, is disagreeable and therefore not popular.”

So, welcome. I hope you enjoy it here. I’d love to hear from you. What are your favorite psychological thrillers? Why do you enjoy them so much?
